24.77g – Besednice Sever (North), Czech Republic
This remarkable, flawless 24.77g Moldavite specimen was discovered on 29 August 2026 at the Moldavite Experience mine, uncovered following recent rains. I was fortunate enough to be taking part in the legal Moldavite mining experience that day and had the opportunity to purchase this unique piece shortly after its discovery.
A beautifully etched Moldavite of substantial size, it displays exceptional natural surface detail and is completely intact. At almost 25 grams, its combination of size, condition and pronounced natural etching makes it an outstanding specimen.
The locality is Besednice Sever (Besednice North), which should not be confused with the legendary Besednice Ježkovna deposit, famous for producing the highly sought-after “hedgehog” Moldavites. Ježkovna lies approximately 500 metres away and was mined until around 2010; that deposit is now considered depleted of Moldavite.
This specimen therefore comes from a distinctly different Besednice deposit, while still originating from one of the most celebrated Moldavite-producing areas in the Czech Republic.
Its flawless condition, substantial 24.77g weight, beautiful natural etching and exceptionally well-documented provenance make this a particularly special and highly collectable Moldavite.
As with all Moldavite NZ specimens, this piece is 100% genuine natural Czech Moldavite and is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity documenting its weight and locality. It is also covered by our money-back authenticity guarantee, giving you complete confidence in its provenance and authenticity.
Moldavite is a rare, green tektite formed from a meteorite impact that occurred around 15 million years ago in what is now the Czech Republic. This extraordinary stone is found only in a small region around the Moldau River in Bohemia, making it one of the rarest gemstones on Earth.
Authentic Moldavite has a distinctive surface texture, natural pits, and a translucent green color that varies in intensity. It is also lighter than glass imitations. To ensure authenticity, purchase Moldavite from reputable sources, and consider requesting a certificate of authenticity.
Moldavite is believed to be a powerful stone for transformation, personal growth, and spiritual connection. It is often used in meditation, energy healing, and other spiritual practices to enhance intuition, amplify energy, and facilitate communication with higher realms.
To care for your Moldavite jewelry, gently clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, or prolonged sunlight, as these can affect its color and structure. Store Moldavite separately to prevent scratches.
Moldavite is expensive due to its rarity and limited supply, as it is found only in a specific region of the Czech Republic. Additionally, its unique origins and increasing popularity as both a gemstone and a spiritual tool contribute to its high value. Prices can vary significantly depending on the size, quality, and uniqueness of the piece.
