This substantial 15.98g specimen of Natural Moldavite from Maly Chlum Kraj is a remarkable example of an Angel Chime, combining an unusual elongated form, intricate surface sculpting and the rare ability to produce a delicate ringing sound when gently struck.
The specimen widens towards one end before tapering to an irregular, narrower tip. Its almost blade-like silhouette, broad rounded base and rugged outline give it considerable presence.
The surface is richly sculpted, displaying a dense network of grooves, fine wrinkles and deeper, flowing ridges running along the length of the stone. Its colour shifts from deep olive green in the thicker areas to brighter, mossy green highlights where light catches the raised textures and thinner edges. The broad end displays particularly fine, closely spaced striations, while the narrower termination reveals deeper folds and angular relief.
At nearly 16 grams, this is an impressive collector's specimen, with its unusual proportions, exceptional surface detail and Angel Chime properties making it a particularly desirable addition to any serious Moldavite collection.
Angel Chimes are a rare and fascinating variety of Natural Moldavite distinguished by their ability to produce a delicate, bell-like ringing sound when gently struck. This remarkable acoustic property is associated with the stone's natural structure, shape and ability to resonate. Not all Moldavite specimens possess this characteristic, making genuine Angel Chimes especially sought after by collectors. The sound can vary from a subtle, high-pitched tinkling to a surprisingly clear, sustained chime. Because Moldavite is natural glass and inherently fragile, Angel Chimes should always be handled with exceptional care.

Moldavite is a rare tektite or meteoric glass, caused by an asteroid impact 15 million years ago. The intense, 10,000°C+ temperatures of the strike vapourised the asteroid, target rock and sand, flinging the molten substance high into the atmosphere.
From the impact zone in Germany some 300km away, it landed back to earth in what is now the Czech Republic and as it flew, it cooled and solidified into translucent green, glass-like droplets of various shapes and sizes.
It is said that only 1% of what had originally fallen is still intact to this day and the estimates of the total amount of Moldavite remaining is under 300 tonnes. In comparison with gold or diamonds, this makes Moldavite 1000x rarer.
99% of all Moldavite is found in a small area in the southern part of the Czech Republic. It can be found on the surface but the highly prized, well-preserved specimens are found up to 6 metres underground.

Moldavite is a rare, green tektite formed from a meteorite impact that occurred around 15 million years ago in what is now the Czech Republic. This extraordinary stone is found only in a small region around the Moldau River in Bohemia, making it one of the rarest gemstones on Earth.
Authentic Moldavite has a distinctive surface texture, natural pits, and a translucent green color that varies in intensity. It is also lighter than glass imitations. To ensure authenticity, purchase Moldavite from reputable sources, and consider requesting a certificate of authenticity.
Moldavite is believed to be a powerful stone for transformation, personal growth, and spiritual connection. It is often used in meditation, energy healing, and other spiritual practices to enhance intuition, amplify energy, and facilitate communication with higher realms.
To care for your Moldavite jewelry, gently clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, or prolonged sunlight, as these can affect its color and structure. Store Moldavite separately to prevent scratches.
Moldavite is expensive due to its rarity and limited supply, as it is found only in a specific region of the Czech Republic. Additionally, its unique origins and increasing popularity as both a gemstone and a spiritual tool contribute to its high value. Prices can vary significantly depending on the size, quality, and uniqueness of the piece.
