Originating from the historic Besednice Ježkovna locality, these remarkable specimens are celebrated as some of the most distinctive and desirable Moldavites ever discovered. Their unmistakable character lies in their deeply sculptured surfaces, pronounced natural peaks and dramatic radial etching—a morphology synonymous with this exceptional locality.

At 5.21 grams, this specimen possesses tremendous presence for its weight. Its broad, fan-like form radiates outward from a strongly defined central point, producing an almost floral or starburst appearance. Deep channels divide the surface into sweeping lobes, while the irregular perimeter rises into a striking succession of sharp crests, serrated edges and rugged natural projections.

The two faces reveal noticeably different expressions of the same remarkable formation. One side displays darker green tones and densely overlapping ridges, while the reverse opens into broader sculptural folds with strong relief. Held to the light, the thinner peaks and outer margins glow with vivid green translucency, contrasting beautifully with the deeper central sections.

This is far more than an attractive piece of natural glass—it is a finite geological artefact, born from an ancient impact event and preserved in one of Moldavite’s rarest and most recognizable forms. What is Moldavite & where is it from?

Moldavite is a rare tektite or meteoric glass, caused by an asteroid impact 15 million years ago. The intense, 10,000°C+ temperatures of the strike vapourised the asteroid, target rock and sand, flinging the molten substance high into the atmosphere.

From the impact zone in Germany some 300km away, it landed back to earth in what is now the Czech Republic and as it flew, it cooled and solidified into translucent green, glass-like droplets of various shapes and sizes.

It is said that only 1% of what had originally fallen is still intact to this day and the estimates of the total amount of Moldavite remaining is under 300 tonnes. In comparison with gold or diamonds, this makes Moldavite 1000x rarer.

99% of all Moldavite is found in a small area in the southern part of the Czech Republic. It can be found on the surface but the highly prized, well-preserved specimens are found up to 6 metres underground.
