Woven Silver Moldavite Earings 0.7g and 0.8g

The earrings in this set are designed to highlight the natural beauty and unmistakable character of genuine Moldavite through refined handcrafted silverwork and carefully balanced composition. Each pair is individually made by hand, featuring finely woven silver settings that provide depth, texture, and structure while allowing the stones to remain the true focal point.

Formed over 15 million years ago by a meteorite impact, Moldavite is prized for its rarity, organic surface detail, and luminous green translucence. Every stone selected for these earrings was chosen for its natural quality, unique character, and visual harmony within the pair—ensuring balance while preserving the individuality that makes Moldavite so distinctive.

The woven silver construction frames each stone securely without overpowering it, allowing light to pass naturally through the material and accentuating its raw texture and depth. The result is a pair of earrings that feels elegant, tactile, and enduring rather than ornamental.

Created exclusively for Moldavite NZ by master jewellers in Bali under the direct supervision of a Swiss owner and designer, each piece is produced in limited numbers and finished entirely by hand to exceptional standards.

Designed for collectors and wearers who appreciate craftsmanship, provenance, and rarity, these earrings offer a timeless expression of natural Moldavite in its most refined form.

What is Moldavite & where is it from?

Moldavite is a rare tektite or meteoric glass, caused by an asteroid impact 15 million years ago. The intense, 10,000°C+ temperatures of the strike vapourised the asteroid, target rock and sand, flinging the molten substance high into the atmosphere.

From the impact zone in Germany some 300km away, it landed back to earth in what is now the Czech Republic and as it flew, it cooled and solidified into translucent green, glass-like droplets of various shapes and sizes.

It is said that only 1% of what had originally fallen is still intact to this day and the estimates of the total amount of Moldavite remaining is under 300 tonnes. In comparison with gold or diamonds, this makes Moldavite 1000x rarer.

99% of all Moldavite is found in a small area in the southern part of the Czech Republic. It can be found on the surface but the highly prized, well-preserved specimens are found up to 6 metres underground.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is Moldavite, and where does it come from?

Moldavite is a rare, green tektite formed from a meteorite impact that occurred around 15 million years ago in what is now the Czech Republic. This extraordinary stone is found only in a small region around the Moldau River in Bohemia, making it one of the rarest gemstones on Earth.

Authentic Moldavite has a distinctive surface texture, natural pits, and a translucent green color that varies in intensity. It is also lighter than glass imitations. To ensure authenticity, purchase Moldavite from reputable sources, and consider requesting a certificate of authenticity.

Moldavite is believed to be a powerful stone for transformation, personal growth, and spiritual connection. It is often used in meditation, energy healing, and other spiritual practices to enhance intuition, amplify energy, and facilitate communication with higher realms.

To care for your Moldavite jewelry, gently clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, or prolonged sunlight, as these can affect its color and structure. Store Moldavite separately to prevent scratches.

Moldavite is expensive due to its rarity and limited supply, as it is found only in a specific region of the Czech Republic. Additionally, its unique origins and increasing popularity as both a gemstone and a spiritual tool contribute to its high value. Prices can vary significantly depending on the size, quality, and uniqueness of the piece.
