A distinctive handcrafted copper wire-wrapped pendant featuring a 1.25 gram natural Moldavite paired with a polished purple Amethyst cabochon. Measuring approximately 4 cm in length, this compact pendant combines earthy green tektite, rich violet quartz and warm antiqued copper in an elegant, elongated design.

The principal stone is a translucent green Moldavite with an irregular natural outline. Its front face displays a mixture of gently etched texture, shallow depressions and smoother glassy areas that allow light to pass through readily. Under illumination, the stone brightens from muted grey-green to a luminous pale olive, revealing subtle variations in thickness and internal structure.

Set above the Moldavite is a round, polished Amethyst cabochon with a deep violet colour. Its smooth, domed surface contrasts beautifully with the more organic texture of the tektite beneath it. A bold circular copper spiral frames the Amethyst, creating a strong focal point while leaving the centre of the gemstone visible.

The pendant is constructed from warm-toned copper with a dark antiqued finish. A sweeping copper curve flows from the Amethyst setting across the face of the Moldavite, continuing into a rounded cradle around the lower stone. The outer frame is reinforced with evenly spaced wire coils, adding decorative rhythm and securing the stones without obscuring their natural character.

Viewed from the side, the layered construction gives the pendant pleasing depth. The raised Amethyst setting sits above the Moldavite, while the open framework allows light to enter from several directions. A substantial double-wire bail, finished with closely wrapped copper coils, completes the design.

For complete transparency, the back side of the Moldavite has a chip, clearly shown in the video. The chip is positioned within the rear of the setting and is less apparent when the pendant is viewed from the front. The stone remains securely held by the surrounding copper framework.

With its 1.25 gram Moldavite, richly coloured Amethyst and detailed handcrafted wirework, this one-of-a-kind pendant offers a striking combination of contrasting colour, texture and form. Its sculptural copper setting and compact proportions make it an especially characterful piece of wearable mineral art.

What is Moldavite & where is it from?

Moldavite is a rare tektite or meteoric glass, caused by an asteroid impact 15 million years ago. The intense, 10,000°C+ temperatures of the strike vapourised the asteroid, target rock and sand, flinging the molten substance high into the atmosphere.

From the impact zone in Germany some 300km away, it landed back to earth in what is now the Czech Republic and as it flew, it cooled and solidified into translucent green, glass-like droplets of various shapes and sizes.

It is said that only 1% of what had originally fallen is still intact to this day and the estimates of the total amount of Moldavite remaining is under 300 tonnes. In comparison with gold or diamonds, this makes Moldavite 1000x rarer.

99% of all Moldavite is found in a small area in the southern part of the Czech Republic. It can be found on the surface but the highly prized, well-preserved specimens are found up to 6 metres underground.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is Moldavite, and where does it come from?

Moldavite is a rare, green tektite formed from a meteorite impact that occurred around 15 million years ago in what is now the Czech Republic. This extraordinary stone is found only in a small region around the Moldau River in Bohemia, making it one of the rarest gemstones on Earth.

Authentic Moldavite has a distinctive surface texture, natural pits, and a translucent green color that varies in intensity. It is also lighter than glass imitations. To ensure authenticity, purchase Moldavite from reputable sources, and consider requesting a certificate of authenticity.

Moldavite is believed to be a powerful stone for transformation, personal growth, and spiritual connection. It is often used in meditation, energy healing, and other spiritual practices to enhance intuition, amplify energy, and facilitate communication with higher realms.

To care for your Moldavite jewelry, gently clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, or prolonged sunlight, as these can affect its color and structure. Store Moldavite separately to prevent scratches.

Moldavite is expensive due to its rarity and limited supply, as it is found only in a specific region of the Czech Republic. Additionally, its unique origins and increasing popularity as both a gemstone and a spiritual tool contribute to its high value. Prices can vary significantly depending on the size, quality, and uniqueness of the piece.
