Gold-Filled Wire Explained
Gold-filled wire is the superior choice for fine jewellery and wire-wrapping. It’s created by permanently bonding a thick layer of 14k solid gold to a jeweller’s brass core using heat and pressure. Unlike gold plating—which is typically just 0.5–1 micron thick and wears off quickly—gold-filled wire contains around 5% real gold by weight, or roughly 100× more gold than plating.
The exterior of gold-filled wire is solid 14k gold—that’s what your skin touches—and it will never wear off with normal use. It offers the same rich tone, lustre, and feel as solid gold becuase that's exactly what it is, but at a fraction of the cost.
For techniques like wire wrapping, solid 14k gold cannot be used—it’s too hard, stiff, and unworkable for intricate designs. Gold-filled wire provides the perfect balance: the beauty and longevity of solid gold combined with the flexibility and practicality required for hand-crafted jewellery.
Though the delicate chiming effect of this rare Angel Chime Moldavite is slightly muted by the gold setting, its powerful energy remains — perhaps dormant, yet perfectly preserved within the metal’s embrace.
Moldavite dimensions: 44 × 24 × 6 mm
Moldavite is a rare tektite or meteoric glass, caused by an asteroid impact 15mil. years ago. The intense, 10,000°c+ temperatures of the strike vapourised the asteroid, target rock and sand, flinging the molten substance high into the atmosphere.
From the impact zone in Germany some 300km away, It landed back to earth in what is now the Czech Republic and as it flew, it cooled and solidified into translucent green, glass-like droplets of various shapes and sizes.
It is said that only 1% of what had originally fallen is still intact to this day and the estimates of the total amount of Moldavite remaining is under 300 tonnes. In comparison with gold or diamonds, this makes Moldavite 1000x rarer.
99% of all Moldavite is found in a small area in the Southern part of the Czech Republic. It can be found on the surface but the highly prized, well preserved specimens are to be found up to 6m underground.

Moldavite is a rare, green tektite formed from a meteorite impact that occurred around 15 million years ago in what is now the Czech Republic. This extraordinary stone is found only in a small region around the Moldau River in Bohemia, making it one of the rarest gemstones on Earth.
Authentic Moldavite has a distinctive surface texture, natural pits, and a translucent green color that varies in intensity. It is also lighter than glass imitations. To ensure authenticity, purchase Moldavite from reputable sources, and consider requesting a certificate of authenticity.
Moldavite is believed to be a powerful stone for transformation, personal growth, and spiritual connection. It is often used in meditation, energy healing, and other spiritual practices to enhance intuition, amplify energy, and facilitate communication with higher realms.
To care for your Moldavite jewelry, gently clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, or prolonged sunlight, as these can affect its color and structure. Store Moldavite separately to prevent scratches.
Moldavite is expensive due to its rarity and limited supply, as it is found only in a specific region of the Czech Republic. Additionally, its unique origins and increasing popularity as both a gemstone and a spiritual tool contribute to its high value. Prices can vary significantly depending on the size, quality, and uniqueness of the piece.
